What Ed Stetzer Says about Warren Bird (and Others)

October 9, 2008

Picture1_2  In an earlier post, I mentioned some of the blogs I regularly read, one of them being Ed Stetzer’s. I see other friends of mine also follow and reference Ed’s blog, such as Todd Rhoades, whose Monday Morning Insight — a great publication by the way — recently cited Ed’s blog on the state of Christian blogging. Ed’s point in that link is an important one: blogs too often seem to magnify an existing problem in the body of Christ, rather than trying to learn from others and support the more important callings God has placed on his church.

Today I’m highlighting Ed’s blog because he talks about my wife Michelle’s favorite person — her husband (me). Ed gives an interesting run-down of people in his “Who’s Who in Megachurch Research?Eleven_innovations_2” post. Then in a subsequent post, he gives a very user friendly description of my 2006 doctoral dissertation, where I asked if “spectator religion” increases as a church gets bigger. And in another post he chronicles the term megachurch itself, again mentioning me.

Ed Stetzer also blogs about a lot of other topics and does some great interviews, so check out his website. He’s also a speaker at our January 2009 i3 gathering (for “innovation cubed”), which might interest you. Ed’s also co-author, with Elmer Towns and myself, of a book called 11 Innovations in the Local Church.

Warren Bird, Ph.D., is Research Director at Leadership Network, and co-author of 19 books on various aspects of church health and innovation.
