Cancel culture isn’t new, it’s just getting named.
We humans have a tendency to tell ourselves that if we avoid the tough conversations, we can get along better. Maybe the problems will just go away.
Except…they never do.
It turns out that cancel culture is more like avoidance culture. We just bury our heads in the sand.
Instead of avoiding the tough conversations we know we need to have, let’s lead our teams to a new commitment to have those tough conversations while continuing to love and honor one another. Let’s also commit to staying engaged and contributing when the conversations aren’t easy—even when it takes months to make progress.
I can assure you the relationships are worth it.
Until next week, Grace & Peace
