I just recently finished “The year of living biblically – one man’s humble quest to follow the Bible as literally as possible” by A.J. Jacobs.
(I listened to the audiobook from the local library over a weeks worth of dishwashing)
I’d recommend this particularly to those in ‘professional’ ministry of any kind. Jacobs is an agnostic, Iand literally wraps his life around the Scriptures for a year.
Some of it is absolutely hilarious, like when he tries to stone an adulterer with pebbles, and some of it is very insightful especially with his Jewish connections.
A practical insight laced throughout the book might be that religion (not spirituality, or faith, or a relationship with God or anything) might actually and oddly still have some value in life…
It’s not worth having as a reference on my bookshelf, but definitely an enjoyable read.
