GOT QUESTIONS?

ABOUT THE NINES
What is the NINES?

The NINES is a free online conference where church leaders gather to engage in conversations about key emerging issues in the areas of church leadership and innovation. Since its successful debut in 2009 with 30,000+ church leaders in attendance, the NINES is celebrating a decade of challenging conversations.

Who will be attending this online conference?

This conference is open to all influential church leaders who care deeply about the Church and have a desire to convene, converse, and collaborate on shaping its future. So, whether you are a current generation or millennial church leader, the NINES is just the place you need to be.

How will I benefit?

At the conference, you will hear current and future voices discuss how the church must change to reach the next generation. This intergenerational discussion will provide insight into the future and help leaders like you to plan your own strategy for the future.

Why is it called the NINES?

The NINES originated from a coincidental repetition of the number 9 that marked the launch of the conference. We started the conference in 2009 – specifically on 09/09/09 – giving 99 church leaders 9 minutes to talk to other church leaders. The NINES stuck as a name after that.

Who is helping organize the NINES?

The NINES is being organized and facilitated by Leadership Network in partnership with Exponential. As a thought leader in the area of church innovation for over three decades, Leadership Network is passionate about presenting fresh ideas that will help shape the future of the Church.

Exponential is a growing community of leaders that is passionate about equipping movement makers to accelerate the multiplication of churches.

For this year’s NINES, we are joining hands with 3 legacy leaders and over a dozen millennial church leaders. Together, we will be exploring how best the Church can prepare for the future.

How is the NINES different from other online conferences?

As a free online conference that is church-centric and strategic rather than just leadership-centric and tactical, the NINES is known for addressing challenging topics in the church space. It’s a great platform for church leaders to tune in to what’s current and relevant in the changing landscape of the Church.

What’s the NINES’ signature style?

The NINES features a mix of 9-minute, TED-style talks and group discussions led by 5-person panels. This has led to lively conversations around a variety of topics such as church governance, changing sexual norms, and engaging the next generation.

Can I sponsor or partner with the NINES?

Sponsorships and partnerships are considered on a case-by-case basis. We’d love to hear from you and see how we can collaborate for this cause. Please send an e-mail to nines@leadnet.org and we will get back to you within 1–2 business days.

ABOUT THIS EDITION
What will be the format of this edition?

The conference will start at 1 p.m. ET on Nov 06, 2019, and will go on for about 4–5 hours. There will be short 9-minute talks by our line-up of 16 speakers. These will be interspersed with 3 panel discussions of 45 minutes each, led by our legacy speakers Francis Chan, Annie F. Downs, and Carey Nieuwhof.

What is this edition’s theme?

At this year’s NINES, we are diving deep into the theme – The future of the Church – with a much-needed conversation between current and next-generation church leaders about where the Church is headed.

What will be different? What will remain the same? How must the church change to reach the next generation? What will faith look like in the future?

With high-profile church leaders leaving the faith, this theme could not have been timed better. Save your spot to join the conversation as we navigate the future of our churches.

Which topics will be covered?

Everyone involved in church ministry dreams (and worries) about how strong the Church will be in 20 years. To prepare us all for the future, we will specifically focus on the aspects of leadership, discipleship, and culture.

Who will be speaking about these key topics?

Legacy leaders, such as Francis Chan, Annie F. Downs, and Carey Nieuwhof, will be in conversation with over a dozen next-gen leaders including musicians, speakers, authors, and social media influencers such as Grant Skeldon, Will Chung, Cole Labrant, and Morgan Harper Nichols.
