My good friend Hal Seed (Lead Pastor of New Song Community Church in Oceanside, CA) is passionate about church-wide campaigns and believes strongly in their ability to attract newcomers and wanderers to the church. “I’m a huge fan of church campaigns,” he says. “We hold an attractional church campaign every fall at New Song and every time attendance goes up, more people join small groups, and excitement and engagement increase. We have more unity because we are all growing in the same direction.”
As a result of this passion, Hal has recently worked together with Outreach, Inc. to create a new Church-wide Campaign titled “I Love Sundays.” It is designed to coincide with “Back to Church Sunday”, traditionally September 20th, and the goal is to kickstart church growth and participation.
Hal and New Song Community are inviting other churches to join with them in launching the campaign this fall (or January if fall does not give you enough lead time). It is a 5 week program including a sermon series, small group study, and short book to read. The materials include such themes as “What Church Was Meant to Be,” “What You Really Want out of Church,” and “How to Make Sunday the High Point of Your Week.” You can find further details, order materials, and even sign up for a coaching group led by Hal Seed here: www.pastormentor.com/i-love-sundays/. There are even t-shirts and wristbands available to amp up the excitement and fun.
