Brian Bloye: Who’s Getting the Glory?

February 17, 2011

If you could tell me what is one thing that you learned that was a life change moment for you?

The most important lesson. It’s not about me or you.

God, what’s really important to you?

More important than anything else is:
– My Glory
– Intimacy with me
– Lost people

Purpose statement for my life: To pursue Christ with such intimacy that the glory of God would be revealed through every area of my life.

Felt like I was giving God a blank check.

God is very jealous of His glory.Glory means heavy, preeminence; who carries the weight, who gets the credit. Isaiah 42.8: “I am the Lord. That is my name. I will not give my glory to another.”

God’s priority is the revelation of His glory. (Leviticus 10:3; Psalm 19:1; Isaiah 43:7)

The revelation of His glory is His purpose. Max Lucado, “God does not exist to make much of us. We exist to make much of Him.” How do we keep that in perspective? Got to stay close, stay small, stay out of the way, stay out of the lime light, stay wasn’t (Genesis 5:24), stay childlike, stay in awe, stay broken, stay in step.

Discussion Questions

1. “To pursue Christ with such intimacy that the glory of God would be revealed through every area of my life.”Does this statement accurately describe you? If not in every area, which areas need work?
2. Can you say that you have given the Lord a “blank check” in your life?

The Lord bestows favor and honor. God is the one responsible for promoting us.If He wants to give us a platform, it’s on His shoulders.
