Ever wonder why some churches ministries grow and multiply rapidly and others don’t?  While there are many factors, one of the key accelerants to planting more churches, starting more campuses, or deploying more people to impact a city is how diligent a church is in leadership development.

In the past few years, Leadership Network has run 7 different large church cohorts in Leadership Development. Each cohort has had a dozen large churches learning from one another’s models.  To learn more about our latest group starting in April, HUB:Leadership Development.

Churches with Attendance of 500-1,799 Represent 40% of Protestant Churchgoers

A disproportionate amount of media coverage goes to megachurches — those congregations that draw 2,000 or more adults and children weekly. But what about those churches are slightly less large — from 500 up? New research profiles those churches, a largely understudied group, but one that represents about 40% of Protestant churchgoers.

Does “Clarity of Mission and Purpose” Change with Church Size?

The surprising answer is yes. The general trend (there are always exceptions) is that the larger the attendance or growth rate, the more likely a church’s leadership is to strongly agree that “our church has a clear mission and purpose.” In fact, it’s a striking contrast:

– 79% for churches with attendances of 2,000 and higher
