Our 400 Highlight for May is Chris Hodges, founding and senior pastor of one of the fastest growing churches in North America: Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, Alabama. Since it began in 2001 with a launch team of 34 people, Church of the Highlands has grown to more than 35,000 people attending each weekend at campuses all across the state of Alabama. Under Chris’ leadership, Church of the Highlands has developed a life-giving culture and focus on leading people to an intimate relationship with God.
Chris has a deep passion for developing leaders and planting life-giving churches. This passion led Chris to become a cofounder of ARC (Association of Related Churches) in 2001 which has launched hundreds of churches all across the USA. He also founded a coaching network called GROW which trains and resources pastors to help them break barriers and reach their growth potential. Chris speaks at conferences worldwide and is the author of Fresh Air and Four Cups.
Chris and his wife, Tammy have five children.
Chris and his team are serving as hosts to our annual 400 Gathering September 27-28. When asked why he would take time out of his busy schedule as the senior leader of such a dynamic church to host The Gathering, Chris replied, “Because at the end of the day, God didn’t call me to plant a church, He called me to invest in leaders.” We hope you’ll come meet Chris and his team, and allow yourself to be invested in this fall!
