Director of Research and Intellectual Capital
Warren Bird, Ph.D., who has a great heart for working with outreach-minded, innovative pastors and church leaders, is the Director of Research and Intellectual Capital Support for Leadership Network. In that role, he oversees a team of researchers, freelance writers and graphic artists who generate a steady stream of fresh knowledge products. Warren also spearheads ongoing research initiatives and oversees Leadership Network’s free e-newsletter, Advance. Warren has written many publications for Leadership Network, including reports on large church salary reports, profiles of executive pastors and large-church senior pastors, and research on people who attend megachurches.
He is widely recognized as among the nation’s leading researcher of megachurches, multisite churches, large church compensation and high-visibility pastoral succession. Warren graduated from Wheaton College (B.A., M.A.), Alliance Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Fordham University (Ph.D.), and is an ordained minister through The Christian and Missionary Alliance, serving as associate pastor or lead pastor for 14 years. He is also a long-time adjunct professor at Alliance Theological Seminary. Warren and his wife Michelle live just outside New York City, and have two grown children.
