Who—and What—Is Shaping Next Generation Pastors?
By Linda Stanley and Warren Bird published on August 9, 2011
Next generation pastors, those under age 40, are leading their churches full-force into multisite ministry, community service, global impact and church planting. Their churches may look different from those of the past but they look to previous generations and each other for guidance. They are less interested in dominating the stage and more likely to share weekend teaching with a team. These young leaders downplay buildings and money, but acknowledge their importance to advance their rapidly growing ministries. Next generation pastors may be moving full steam ahead but they take the time to balance their professional and private lives as well as reaching out to other churches and organizations to increase their impact.
In this podcast, Warren Bird interviews Linda Stanley about Next Generation Pastors. In their discussion, they talk about the characteristics of Next Generation Pastors and how they are making an impact in their ministries. In their discussion, Linda and Warren talk about some of the common personal and professional goals these pastors share. Questions such as, “How do you handle challenges of ministry and money?” and “What to do about facility issues?” are addressed. Finally, they talk about some of the collaborations these pastors engage in both locally and globally.
