Multisite Movement Gaining New Momentum in New Places
By Warren Bird and Greg Ligon published on July 12, 2011
While many churches adopt the multisite concept to address space issues, expand into new areas and reach more people by adding multiple venues, some denominations are also using multisite to revitalize struggling congregations and deal with leadership deficits. Churches are also using a multisite strategy to combine the forces of several smaller churches for maximum impact in neighboring communities. Leadership Network’s Vice President and Publisher Greg Ligon examines these trends and other developments as more churches embrace the multisite movement. In this podcast, Warren Bird interviews Greg Ligon about some of the new developments in multisite churches. Greg discusses research that shows there are more multisite churches than megachurches. Trends include the use of the internet and an increase in community service. Questions such as developing the leadership pipeline for multisite churches are discussed. Greg also predicts an increase in the number of adoptions and mergers. Finally, Greg gives listeners information on resources for those looking for more information on the subject. Length: 7:48
